The studio session
Three hours in the Kreators podcast and video studio in Alfama costs €450, including the 23% Portuguese VAT. The price includes the dressed set, Shure SM7B and Rode Procaster microphones, the Rodecaster Pro II, multi-camera video on Sony FX3 and the guest lounge.
Three hours is the useful unit: about thirty minutes of setup and level checks, up to two hours of recording, and a file offload before anyone leaves.
The buy-it-yourself comparison
Buying the equivalent chain — two broadcast dynamic microphones, a recorder with enough gain, a camera and lighting — runs into the thousands before the room is treated. At €450 a session, the break-even against buying is measured in years of weekly episodes, and the studio version requires no setup at all.
The calculation changes when a show records several times a week and has a permanent space. Until then, renting is the cheaper production.
What editing and production add
Recording is the fixed cost; post-production is the variable one. A clean top-and-tail edit is quick, while a full video episode with colour, mix, cutdowns and thumbnails is quoted per project.
